MX View Showing my MX-2424 Offline

I have installed MX View 1.4 on my XP box, and it sees the MX-2424, but is says it is offline. I have cleared the configuration, waited 10 minutes, and tried again, but is still keeps saying Offline. Am I doing something stupid? (would not be the first time)...

Sorry if some of my questions sound simple or obvious, but I have to start somewhere.

Did you open the network window in MX view and double click on the MX showing to place it on line?

Another thing that seems to stuff up the connection is that start the computer and the MX2424 and wait a while before opening MX view, if you are too fast the computer and the MX are not ready for a network connection and this seems to confuse the connection.
