My settings are not saving to the library, despite doing so several times. The library is global across all songs, so I was surprised that they disappeared. What is the secret to saving user presets in Mastering mode?

mjk, after you customize the Master compressor settings, press F3 (Library) / Scroll down to a blank User slot / press F3 (Save) / name the customized settings, then press F2 (Yes) to complete the process.

I think you can also just scroll down to an empty User slot, load it, turn it on, and enter custom settings, then follow the above sequence to save it.

Hi Mark. I've actually done that several times. Changed the default user slot name also. Am I right in assuming that those presets should be global across all songs? Thanks.

mjk, the custom user settings should be global.

I created a custom compressor setting in Master mode for one song and the custom setting is available to other songs. I'm running FW 1.16 (not that it should make a difference, I would hope).

Thanks Mark. I've done a few backup/format/restore operations on the SD card, but that's just normal computer practice. If my song data is on the card then the presets should be too. That's why this is baffling to me. I also did upgrade to v: 1.10.

I think this thing runs Linux. I just don't have time to dig into it, and my Linux guy passed away. I will reconfig my compressor and save it again.

I really wish we could share our effects presets! Or, can we? Could we make a blank new song and share that? Wouldn't that contain all saved library presets across the board? Then it would be a matter of saving them to our own library. Or am I delusional?

Come to think of it, does resetting with a !Reset template wipe out the saved presets? Maybe that's what going on. More experiments time!

I don't believe the custom presets are saved with the song. I'm pretty sure the DP stores them internally. A factory reset doesn't wipe them out. EDIT: just confirmed it.

{aside: The FW I have installed on my 24 is about 2 years old. My motto is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" :)}

A bit of clarification:
If a change is made in Master mode to a Preset Compression (e.g. Multi/Basic Cd), that change is preserved with the individual song, and will be recalled when returning to Master mode as long as the Compression button remains On for that song.

However, the changed Preset is not available to other songs, and if Compression is turned Off in Master mode for the particular song, the change to the Preset is lost for that song.

A User customized preset is stored internally in the DP and is available globally.
