Lots of Tascam stuff!
So I have a passle of Tascam 122MkIII in the cue, and I'm doing the routine electronic calibration process.

Yes, I have the right tools. Hewlett Packard signal generator, HP 3466 meters, Tektronix 2445B scope, and reasonably reliable brand new calibration reference tapes with the usual signals, blah blah blah. paths are cleaned and demag'd, capstans working and serviced, everything set for the alignment. So far, so good.

So, great! Step one, reproducer alignment. Page 12 of the factory documentation says "Test points 5/6 122MKIII, 112RMKII" is the place to pick up the signal measurement when playing back the MTT-150. Fine...should be -6dBm when playing the MTT-150

Not on my four units. I find the signal on TP3/4 - Exactly the opposite of what the factory documentation claims. Factory doc claims TP3/4 is for the "112MkII" on pp14.

So, is this common knowledge, secretly shared only among Tascam techs?

FWIW, I've been using and fixing open reel decks since they said Ampex on the front of them...as in Ampex 351. You won't hurt my feelings.
