Hello i have the dr 40 and everytime i go into record mode and source and chage it to line 1/2 the tascam shuts off. Can anyone help me ?

does the same thing happen if you select external inputs?

it only shows int stereo. If i try to change anything it shuts off

hmmmm I wonder , are the internal mics pointed out by any chance?

I can only suggest going thru every menu option one by one to see if anything else is the cause?

I have the exact same problem... at first before updating new firmware, I couldn't even turn it on, it simply crashes upon loading the animation startup screen. After 20+ attempts, it turns on and I had the firmware updated. Now I'm facing this crashing (auto shut off) when changing Rec modes to anything other than Mono/Stereo. This sucks, without other features, this thing is useless to me. April-2023.

I have the same issue too... Stuck trying the start sequence, tried to update the firmware, but still wouldn't boot to update it. Tried writing to the eeprom via test mode and it booted. After upgrading to the lates firmware it crashes (with a audible click from the speaker on the device) any time I try to change the rec mode or source...
