Two interfaces at once/ Any US-1800 Testimonials?

I was wondering if you can use two interfaces at once as I'm looking to get the US-1800 (I have a US-600). I know you can Send the stereo output from one to another through S/PIDF but I was wondering if a DAW can see two interfaces at once.

Additionally, I was wondering if anyone could speak for the US-1800. I know it is being replaced but would it be a smart investment/ is it still usable (the driver support seems shaky)?

Digital Performer can address two or more interfaces ( although that make work only with MOTU's own PCIe interfaces), so I know it can be done. I'm sure it's up to the specific DAW.
