I am working with a brand new UH-7000 and OSX 10.6.8 and 10.8.5. With logic 9 with buffer set at 256 and 24 bit 44.1Khz I get a 26,9 ms roundtrip latency. With the same settings on both my macs and a ten years old Motu Traveler the latency is about 13,6 ms.
I am quite happy about the sound of preamp and AD converter section, very clean, but latency is quite high compared to other interfaces. I am asking if they should only improve drivers or this is due to the fact this hardware unit has to be considered mainly a preamp/converter with additional USB capabilities.
