Updated documentation for DM3200 - Firmware V1.7 + improved information

Hi, This is an information for all DM-3200 Users running 1.7 ( or 1.52)
Working with my DM-3200 I decide to merge all Tascam documentation, creating a consistent User manual for the DM-3200. I added some chapters to complete the original documentation to facilitate the usage.
Not easy because I did a kind of patch of the pdf file:
1) I maintained the page numbering as it is (except starting chapter 9 with new page numbering).
This is necessary to be consistent with Automation and many "link" between page inside the manual.
2) I added chapter 9 to describe new functionnality starting FW 1.2 and also to include the description of some functionnality missing in the original documentation.
3) I compiled some Appendix with additional information (The function List; digital interface capability, etc..)

At the end I redesign the Bock diagram to be consistent with the routing input and output capabilities.
I hop that new users will better understand the power of this tool.

At the moment it is only French LAnguage.... ( Grrr...)...
Some Appendix are missing and will be published in some weeks (at minimum some preliminary version).

If EN users are interested, I will be able to produce an English version but will need some Month.
Give me your feedback on the structure and content (It will help).

I like to share. A am nothing on this planet and working all together is much more interesting.
We can improve. I have already identify some grey area but have to test before publishing.
The Windows 10 Windows 11 story have to be documented.
Sorry for Mac users, I do'nt have, impossible for me to test something.
Another point is also some documented configuration and how to use.

Last point difficult to use is automation, especially because we cannot edit.. I much prefere to work on Pro tools.
At the moment was focus on my MX-2424 initialisation failure. Root cause was not trivial and on top, we do not have service documentation...

- minor changes (better title, orthograph/grammar changes)

About English version:
- Appendix 1, 3,4,5,6,7,9 available same location, EN directory.

Some new about documentation project:

French Updated version with :
- New rear panel and front panel presentation with direct link to the chapter/information
- New description of the Library keyboard.
- Rewrite some paragraph (Layer), remove some wrong information in library management.
- Appendix 2 published (EN and FR)

This was done to prepare the English version. All mods will be translated.

Hello, good news, I publish the english version of the consolidated Owner manual for DM-3200 V1.7 firmware version.

Have to terminate creating the links between summary and chapters Some are missing. I take care to maintain all link between pages inside chapters... Normaly it is OK

You will found the EN directory with all documentation in english.

Using the french documentation, I discover some bad wording or too complex phrase that i draft again... Then I allign both documentation (EN and FR) with same level of explanation.

For sure could be better, there is a lot of grey area every where but with the direct link and signets it is more easy to found information.

If you want to contribute, I can add information you will provide.

Hello, Happy new year and new updated documentation English and French Version:

English and French: Updated MIDI setup, especially IF-FW/DM MKII clarification (Have change since V1.3 of the DM-3200). Add synoptic at the end
Remove the IF-FW/DM card from option list. Do not recommend it with DM-3200.

Updated link and signets
Updated appendix 3.

I did some test with DM-3200, Firewire over Thunderbolt and Protools running on Dell Laptop under Windows 11 (with MIDI and HUI emulation, piano keyboard, etc...). The major issue is the bad implementation of Power management by Dell which compromised the realtime response of Windows Kernel. Except that, enough power to run several channels on Protools.
I will publish a documentation to explain problem and describe adjustment, also what must be checked before doing anything.

A question - have you gathered up any similar materials for the DM-4800? I am sure a number of us on the site would be glad to organize them in a similar way, if you have gathered any of that DM-4800 specific material.

hi, I did not work on the DM-4800 but it seems possible to develop similar documentation for the DM-4800. I think we have enough material to do it for DM-4800. The software is the same.... functionnality are the same.
What is different is the surface because they try to improve the human interface with additional dedicated key. Except that, DM-4800 documentation is similar (In DM3200 software release explanation some screen copy are from DM-4800!!).
For sure the most difficult is to identify paragraphs that are totaly wrong or obsolet due to firmware upgrade and to adapt them for last firmware version.
What was also time consuming is to test what we discribe in the documentation and to translate some "Tascam developper or technician explanation" into a user oriented documentation (Example PAN and Bus PAN Link!!).

At the moment I am working on the MX-2424 documentation which is poor or empty on some area. Have also to publish the usage of HUI emulation with last version of ProTools. It works perfectly and easy to setup.

My dream: modify the software to remove this cazy shutdown message. normally it is only a question message at startup: do you want to load project from CF card or to use current setup in RAM.

Thanks for the updates Herve. I've noticed that this shutdown error can be due to the type and size of the CF card used. I was fortunate to find a few of these 256mb and 512mb cards secondhand. Some give the start up error and others are fine.
