US-144 MKII - no audio - rythmic clicking/ticking noise - OS X El Capitan

Hi! I couldn't find a similar problem posted here before:

It neither plays, nor records, and with the knob at "Computer" on MON MIX, I get regular ticks/clicks coming through the phones port.

I'm not sure whether yesterday was the first time I used it since "upgrading" to El Capitan, but I think so.

Unplugging/Replugging worked once yesterday, and I could use it for about 30 minutes. Since then nothing has worked.

I had a similar issue on a 2009 macbook pro, where the 144mkII would only work if it was plugged in at startup. Then the clicking noise went away.

Any ideas, suggestions - it seems there will be no new driver updates?

Happened to me too. Right after El Capitan update. Looking for solutions. I'll send one if I find one.

Spent 20+ hours trying to solve the same issue. I think I fixed it. During boot, hit ENTER to go into setup mode. Found the USB settings and there was a setting to allow the USB to auto select 2.0 or 3.0. I disabled it so that it was forced to 2.0. Seems to be working now. Hope this helps.
