Vinyl ripping with UH-7000 no valid signal error on panel / no signal on front monitors

I've used the device for several years to rip [digitize] vinyl without issue but now it's not showing signal on front monitors. Am I correct in thinking that even if there were driver issues, a signal would nevertheless appear on the front monitors? I've verified that there is no issue with the phono preamp or cables that connect to the line inputs. Would this indicate an internal hardware problem? Thank you.
