I am recently greatly enjoying using my old 788 after many years in storage. I was delighted to find it had survived intact and in good working order.
My question is, when I first bought it back in 2004, I recall reading somewhere that it was good practice to shuffle songs between partitions so that you could periodically empty a partition. Like moving furniture out of a room in order to give it a good clean. Am I supposed to re-format the empty partition, or will this wipe some essential firmware? I cannot find the reference now, and I am no computer expert at all, so does anyone have any advice or tips for a tech dinosaur on good practices for keeping an old hard drive going?
Many thanks.
