Before recording I use my headphones and my eyes to make sure the sound I'm getting is what I want to record and that my levels are strong enough. Either on PFL or through the MAIN mix, it sounds the same. I keep my faders at 0.
After I record something, the playback when listening on PFL sounds just like what I was monitoring before, however on the MAIN mix (with the Faders still at 0) some of the recordings sound significantly different, as if the fader stage changed the frequencies of the recorded sound.
Has anyone else had this experience? I believe I'm monitoring both at the same level. I especially noticed this while recording an acoustic guitar part and hearing my voice through the guitar mic at a different level depending on whether I was listening to PFL or MAIN. All EQ is at null/12 o'clock. Am I going insane?
