Hi All,
Well I guess this is the best place to ask my question. I am still waiting for my new screen from China.. " 2 months" and I started to think about the cabinet, furniture, Desk , what ever you want to call it that I will install my Tascam DM-3200 into. I looked around on the net before I start to see if I could find some plans and save myself some building time. To my surprise very little for the Tascam.
I did find this Argosy photo but not much more. Does anyone know or have seen some plans?

@Sampler1 I may have some rough sketches that I picked up from the internet. I can send them to you if you would like. I do not guarantee that they are designed for our DM series though. Perhaps a little tweaking may go a long way!

Hi Peter Batah,
I would really love to see those plans and tweeking is no problem at all. I would also love to ask you about your 2seemy card. At 1st I was thinking of buying one also but when I seen the price my heart jumped a beat.No other comment. I have worked as a Tech a good part of my life and I know the actual cost of the components.. I have paid $28.00 for an IC and I have bought the same at 10 x pcs. for $2.85. Do you like the VGA interface? I guess you are still limited for screen size?
I am thinking about going one of two ways; upgrading to a LED backlight or designing a VGA output.
Best regards. Stay well.

@Sampler1 Here is the link to a site that discusses the desk build

http://www.marrsrecording.com/studio desk.htm

I do like the 2Seemy solution. I can cast the display to any size display of my choosing. I have elected to go with a 7" VGA display. Sits nicely atop the original display of my 4800. I believe that I had posted pics of that setup a while back. Keep us posted on the your VGA output design if ever you decide to go that route. Best of luck!

Thanks for the Info Peter !
I did find these plans but you would have to do some small adjustments. Ill share it here as they are quite nice, maybe someone will find them useful;

I think I will go with the Studio 88 design made by Buso Audio.
https://busoaudio.com/products/studio-88
The rough dimensions are there. I would really have to mod the design but the dimensions are a good foundation to work from. I wanted the DM-3200 to be sunken into the surface but now I am opting to have my keyboard controller under it. I have a large collection of synths but most are rackmount. My idea is controller under the desk ( I guess the 3200 on top) hummm and Ill make an external cabinet with all the Rack synths in there. whew, lots of work. Patchbays, compressors effects and the works.

Here is a few other designs

@Sampler1 Thank you for the links and information. Best of luck with your build. Keep us posted.

Like Peter said, you're not limited to display size, but keep in mind that the original screen has only a 320 x 240 pixel resolution. So a bigger display will give you a worse (rougher) image. Like Peter, I also have a 7" display with the 2Seemy (which is currently not available BTW) but I don't really use it yet - just there for backup.

BTW, my DM3200 has only support underneath, and therefor has the same height as my other desk surface. You should be able to check the photos on my site: http://www.soundbyte.nl/ (under Location > The Rooms > Click on Control Room).

Thanks Peter Batah for the plan.. Appreciated

Arjan P,
Very nice studio congrats. I think I mentioned in another other post that I am going to take a jump from an analog Mackie 24-8 to the Tascam DM-3200. The old mackie is tired and like they say a change can be good. :) I am really torn as I don't know if I am going to like the digital experience. I have also mentioned that I am a Tech with 40+ years of experience and I just adore rebuilding and modding electronics. The DM3200 was bought used and I have gone through all that I can without a screen. I should start working on that (screen) any day now. I have ordered two types. LCD with a CCFL backlight and the other is LCD with LED backlight. The LED display will require a tiny mod. Ill post all I can at a later date. im hopping its an easy upgrade.
I am so undecided because the DM-3200 was not my 1st choice. I searched for an Analog 24 + channel modular console ( independant strips) to bring back to new. Just a personal goal i have.

@Sampler1 In the event that you might be curious as to what my 7" VGA display looks like when connected to the 2Seemy card. Voila!

Hey Peter that is really nice !
Dumb question but clue me in on posting a photo here. Size?
Weeeee, I love this forum!

@Sampler1 Actually, it's pretty straightforward. I use Imgur

https://imgur.com/

Click on New Post. Select "Drop Images Here" or "Choose Photo/Video". Once that is done, click on Copy link. I prefer clicking on the Horizontal Ellipsis / Get share links / BBCode (Forums). Then I usually strip the tags / click on insert image icon.

@Sampler1 I just realized after checking out your profile that you have Montreal, Canada as your location. We are probably located a few kilometers from each other. What are the chances. ;)

@Peter Batah ,your slow my friend. I seen that a long time ago.. haha nice to be neighbours. I am out on the south shore.
So did you find that Vintage Analog console for me yet? Don't forget modular.. LOL:idea:;)

Are you related to Synths and Disco ? TheNetz22?
My cousin is Laurie from the group Toulouse

Toulouse heh? I recorded my first single down on Amherst back in '74. Toulouse and Black Light Orchestra were in before me. Nah! Haven't located that analog console yet. A decent one is hard to come by. I should have held on to my Soundcraft Series 3. And a boat load of other amazing gear that I owned back in the day. If I only knew then what I think I know now. You might laugh if I tell you how close I came to purchasing a Hammond B3 and Leslie last week. I had to hold myself back. Crazier things have happened. Well, have a great weekend neighbor!

@Sampler1 I just got the Buso Audio Studio XL.

I'm using my 2Seemy via the USB port on my 32" monitor and it's awesome! You can choose between 4 window sizes. The biggest one is huge and the resolution is just fine. The size I'm using in this photo is the second smallest.

And of course the pictures don't work. Ugh! Why can't we upload pictures directly to this forum?

@patrickr2018 because it's a resource nightmare, considering about a decade of messages that have to be backed up every day.

Google photos works fine too.
