dr-05xp rec and i/o settings

hello,

i just bought a dr-05xp and im planning to use it to record rehearsals of my band.

its my first time using this kind of field recorders and im overwhelmed by the the menu and settings.

my question is what is your best rec and i/o settings on the menu when recording band rehearsals or gigs?thanks

Welcome to the community, @jewiw.

If you're new to recording and will be recording a live band, it's probably best to stick with the default settings (and the reasons why) that are described in the "Recording" chapter of your owner manual.

But first, here's two critical things that will help avoid significant random operating problems down the road.

* Make sure you have the latest firmware installed (refer to the "Support" section of the TASCAM website); and​

​

* Somewhere in the "Introduction" section of your owner manual, it will say something like this:"A list of microSD cards that have been confirmed for use with this unit can be found on the TASCAM website." ​

Outdated firmware/software and/or use of SD cards not vetted by TASCAM cause the majority of performance issues associated with TASCAM products.​
