Internal oscillator to stereo

I want to check my SPL by feeding the internal oscillator signal to the the stereo buss and then to the CR monitors. So I selected stereo L and R as destination for the oscillator signal. And now the TMC display shows signal on the stereo buss, but the LED bars don't And I get no sound on the CR monitors, while Stereo is selected (I do get the normal audio signal from my stereo mix). Am I overlooking something?

Use the loopback return function, it is possible to route the output of the oscillator to a channel of your DM.
You can also use the monitor buttons at the right of your screen. Select the oscillator as source.

The loopback option works. Routing: oscillator->buss->loopback to channel->assign to stereo buss->monitor stereo buss->sound!

What I still don't understand is why the simple routing: oscillator->stereo buss->monitor stereo buss->(no) sound, doesn't seem to work.

I encountered the same problem when I needed to check some levels, that's how I found out that one can route the oscillator with the loopback function
It took 2 hours
