Phones track level

hi guys.
i would like to ask somenthing,
if I am working on the analog mixer with the master in mute, and only working with phones (nigh mode).
is not posible to manipulate the track levels with the faders?
only with the gain knobs??

I have my speakers plugged into the monitor out not the main out so for working in my headphones I just turn down my monitor knob and mix through my headset no need to mute main out. Not sure if this is what your talking about but it's how I mix on headphones.

@Felipe Bravo you are using PFL mode. If you mute the master, how can you hear what's being mixed to the master tracks?
