Record Audio from DR-40 into Android Smartphone During Video Recording

Anyone has done this before. What is the set-up like ? Is this in any way possible ? I tried using a TRS to TRRS cable from DR-40 line out into the phone MIC/HEADPHONE jack but couldn't get any sound recorded.

Also, the TRRS input of the phone is mono and microphone level; the DR-40 TRS output is stereo and headphone level. Your adapter cable might mix the channels and reduce the level, but it'd still be mono. Perhaps you can record stereo via a Bluetooth audio transmitter to the phone?

[Upon more thought edit:] Bluetooth would introduce some delay in the audio but that can be corrected in post by delaying the video to match.
