Recording sound help!

Hi all I'm a newbie to all this!

I was recently gifted a lovely Tascam DR-07x but I'm struggling with it.
It sounds like it's recording in a bathtub, obviously it's me lol.
Can anyone suggest what I need to do?
I've been through the manual and adjusted settings, and re-ajdusted, but no matter what I try it remains the same.
I'm desperate to use it to record some of my work.
I use acoustic guitars/voice.

When you say that it sounds likes it's recording in a bathtub, I assume you mean that it's echoey. If that's the case, then you either have turned on some effects that add echo (in which case the recording would sound the same whether it's played on the DR-07X or on another device), or else you're playing back on the device and playback speed is set to something slower than 1.0x. Was the recorder new and unused or was it used? If it was used I suggest you reset it to factory state. Execute menu item SYSTEM/INITIALIZE and acknowledge "Are you sure?".

Still sound bad?
