My tape stops on rewind a few minutes before BoT and gives me Servo Error 31. I see from a previous post that is means that tape has un-spooled inside the machine, but when I turn of and on, then eject the tape, all seems fine. Any suggestions?

I am in New Zealand

The Supply and T-up reel tables generate pulses to "tell" the machine that everything is turning as it should. If one side is moving and the other is not, or the machine "thinks" one side stops, you will get that error. The machine can still eject the tape fine- although sometimes it will "eat" it.

When the transport drops out of 100x RWD speed to "spool" mode about 3 minutes before BOT, mechanical parts in the transport have to move within a set period of time to change the gear ratio of the reel motor drive assy. or it errors out. It can be fixed by someone who has experience servicing the DA series of recorders. I'd say send it to me but you are in NZ and I'm in the U.S.
