Greetings- (Good to see tools from the past are not helpless. Thanks for being on here, TASCAM FORUM 
A few years back i purchased a TASCAM Portastudio 488 MK ii. Many years, homes, and thousands of miles later, I'm having issues with it.
(I last used it a few months ago.)
Yesterday wiped her out to try and make a demo of a song i've been working on.
Channels 1 and 2 had my guitar tracks and 3 and 4 were going to have vox.
3 and 4 will not erase over previous recordings. They just keep piling up and up.
1 and 2 erase just fine. If i dont like my recording i can do it again. Not so with 3&4.
In addition i get no response in my headphones(s- i used several different pairs) from the trim knobs at the top of the channels until i get to about 8 or 9 (or 4 or 5 o'clock) however you want to think of it.
I'm going to spend some time cleaning the heads and whatnot, but if anybody has any input please do not hesitate. I'd hate to be out of the money i spent on this thing.
