UH-7000 with outboard compressor question

I'm wondering if it's possible to hookup the UH-7000 like this, with it being the audio interface for the computer.

Microphone - UH-7000 mic 1 in ->output ->external compressor ->into Line Input 2 on the UH-7000 and then record the signal coming into Line2 on the computer?

Or is there an easier way to hook use an external compressor while tracking for example?

Any update on this? I just ordered a UH-7000 so really hope this will work!

I don't see why this would not work as long as you are dealing with mono signals and have your gain staging set up properly.
